‘The Tales of Majid’ translated for Int’l readership

English translation of Iranian popular children’s book ‘The Tales of Majid’ is set to be unveiled next month.

The director of Candle and Fog Publishing House said to the local media that the translated version of the highly acclaimed children’s book was done by Caroline Croskery, adding that it will be unveiled at the Tehran International Book Fair.

Afshin Shahnetabar noted, “The book will be jointly published by Candle & Fog and the Comma Press, a publishing house based in Manchester.”

The celebrated author of the work, Houshang Moradi ‌-Kermani once said the publication of this book took 9 months as no publisher was willing to publish this book and they said, "No one likes this way of writing." 

The works of Houshang Moradi Kermani have been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Greek, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Armenian and Turkish. 

'The Tales of Majid' tells the story of an ambitious teenage boy, Majid, who lives with his grandma Bibi in the Iranian city of Isfahan.

Iranian filmmaker Kioumars Pourahmad directed a TV series of the same title based on the book during the 1990s.

The 33rd edition of Tehran International Book Fair takes place in May.
